Word of mouth
What golfers around Ayrshire say
Ronnie doesn't advertise much — most lessons come from word of mouth. Here is some of it.
“Dropped my handicap from 22 to 14 in one season – couldn’t have done it without Ronnie.”
“Finally hitting consistent drives after years of frustration.”
“Simple changes, clear drills, and loads of confidence on the course. Best coaching I’ve had.”
The 19th Hole

Who lessons are for
A welcoming place to start
More adults than ever are taking up golf — and most of them felt exactly like you do now. This site is built for people who are new to the game, a bit unsure, or worried they might feel out of place.
Complete beginners
You do not need experience, golf clothes, or any understanding of the rules. Ronnie starts with the basics and keeps things calm.
Nervous first-timers
If your main worry is looking silly or getting it wrong, you are exactly the sort of golfer Ronnie enjoys helping.
Adults starting later in life
You are not too old to start. The aim is a comfortable first lesson, then steady progress at a pace that suits you.
You do not need to arrive with any golfing background. Ronnie teaches beginners all the time and knows how to make the first session feel manageable.
Lessons are explained clearly, in everyday language, without trying to impress you with technical talk.
No launch monitors, no studio fees, no gadget upsells. A bucket of balls, a quiet time on the tee at Ravenspark, and coaching that makes sense.
No surprises
What happens in your first lesson
A quick chat before you start
Ronnie will ask what brings you to golf, whether you have ever played before, and if there is anything you are worried about. That helps set the pace properly.
The basics that actually matter
Grip, posture and a simple swing feel are explained in plain English, with time to try things without feeling rushed.
A few shots at your pace
The goal is not perfection. The goal is to get comfortable, understand what you are trying to do, and leave with a small early win.
A simple next step afterwards
You will leave with one clear priority, a couple of simple drills, and a better idea of what to do next.

The simplest way to start
The First Lesson
60 minutes, 1-to-1 at Ravenspark
Most beginners hit shots they're proud of inside the first hour.
- A short chat about you and what you want from golf
- Grip, posture and a simple swing feel — in plain English
- Time to hit real shots at a comfortable pace
- One clear thing to practise, so you know what's next
- Your Swing Plan — a simple written note of what you worked on and what to practise
- A follow-up text a few days later to see how you're getting on
If you don't enjoy your first lesson, it's free — just tell Ronnie at the end.
He can promise that because after forty years of teaching beginners, he knows what happens once the nerves wear off.
Most coaches charge £40–£90 an hour. With no studio, no gadgets and no overheads, Ronnie doesn't have to.
Ronnie takes on a small number of new beginners each week — summer slots go first.
Other lesson types
Whether you want a relaxed first lesson, a quick tune-up, or on-course help later on, the options are easy to understand and easy to book.
